Thousands of newcomers relocate to Houston each year from all over the country and the world. Today, it’s the fourth-largest city in the US. As the city grows, so do its services and each of its communities are home to world-class hospitals, leading-edge educational centers, and wonderful places to live. As the largest city in the country with very little zoning, Houston is made up of several “edge cities” – concentrations of business, shopping, and entertainment outside the traditional downtown. As a result, while many people still live the 20th-century lifestyle of living out in the suburbs and commuting to work, many Houstonians today spend the vast majority of their days living, working, and playing ‘in place’ within a few miles of their home, and then venturing out for a special meal or a night at the ballgame.
